"Bardot"

This weekend I attended a black tie affair for my cousin's special birthday.
Now I like to keep it simple. My style is, genuinely, effortless. But this look took some planning. The thing is, I have a number of dresses that could've made the cut but I was under strict instructions to wear a maxi length gown.  I had a few weeks to find something but in between travel, work and more travel I was forced to finding something online.  The dress code being black and white, I originally hoped to find a white dress. That would be quite different, I thought. But the 2 I received, were more off white and slightly dirty looking. So I went for a black beauty.  Playing it safe, you might say, but 4 dresses later (don't worry, I returned the others) I found the one!  You know, when you just know. Neckline and collarbone baring with a long split detail at the back.  Timeless. Elegant. Reminiscent of a mermaid from the front.  It fits like a glove. Paired with a black strappy sandal and chunky jewelled necklace, this look stands by my belief that less is more when it comes to my own personal style.
